09 May What are the daily hacks that make entrepreneurs more productive?
Having that entrepreneur mindset demands creativity translated into productivity. Let’s go through some hacks that might place us in that same mode.
Try to follow a two-minute rule.
This has been attributed to time management consultant and author David Allen. He shares that, “If you determine an action can be done in two minutes, you actually should do it right then because it’ll take longer to organize it and review it than it would be to actually finish it the first time you notice it.”
You actually get to save more time because instead of deliberating whether to do it or not, if it won’t take that much time, just two minutes, than get that task over with and move on to the next one.
Your schedule should thoughtfully and intentionally guide you through your day.
You can’t do everything, but if you plan ahead, you might be able to accomplish everything. Run through what you need to do for that particular day. Mark off the items that you should prioritize. Follow through on the timetable presented.
List your projects and tasks in an organized manner.
Determine what’s achievable. Do not attempt to do the impossible. If you can get that errand done within the day, then mark that as something doable. Don’t get too caught up in being a jack of all trades that you are a master of none, then nothing gets done.
Treat yourself after finishing a task.
After I complete this report, I can treat myself to some chocolate. When I finish my budgeting, I can enjoy a nice walk. As soon as this presentation is edited, I can watch my favorite show. By psyching yourself for a treat after a task, that will inspire you to keep going until you get it.
Awareness and mindfulness exercises can help you to focus more.
There’s just too many things demanding our attention. Stay away form your mobile messages for a while. Unplug and declutter your mind so you can be better attuned to what you aim to complete.
Take better care of yourself.
Aside from regular exercise and a healthy diet, getting enough sleep should be a top priority. There are various studies that concur about the dangers of sleep deprivation. So, recharge your batteries optimally so you can face the challenges of the next day after a good night’s rest.
Have a system to follow in your work area.
World renowned chefs know the importance of mise en place. That’s the term they use for making sure that all the ingredients they need to concoct a dish are within reach. They would be so stressed out if, in the middle of their cooking, they discover that they have a missing ingredient. That would be so tragic.
For you to be a successful entrepreneur, always make sure you have what you need when you need it. Keep your desk tidy. Have all your office supplies on hand. Hopefully, by following these simple hacks, you can look forward to more productive days ahead.
